Current Account Surplus Continues for 45th Month as Imports Dwindle

South Korea maintained a current account surplus for the 45th consecutive month as imports fell far more than diminishing exports.

The Bank of Korea said Tuesday that South Korea’s current account surplus amounted to nine-point-four billion U.S. dollars in November, amid the economic slowdown.

The November surplus is 280 million dollars more than the month before.

The aggregate surplus for the first eleven months of last year meanwhile stood at around 98 billion dollars.

The goods account surplus reached nine-point-98 billion dollars in November. The deficit in the service sector was one-point-28 billion, while deficits in tourism were 720 million U.S. dollars.
