38% of S. Koreans Have No Objections to Imported Farm, Livestock Products

A survey finds that South Koreans have a better perception on imported agricultural and livestock products than before.

According to the survey by the Korea Rural Economic Institute on about 25-hundred people, 38 percent of urban residents said that they have no objections to imported agricultural and livestock products.

Nine percent even said that they prefer imported goods over local products.
A quarter of the respondents said that they purchase imports because of their cheaper prices despite their negative image.

When asked if they would choose between imports and local products when the nation opens up its market more, about 40 percent said that they would decide depending on quality.

The ratio of respondents who said that they would buy local products even if they are more expensive than imports marked 21 percent, down eight-and-a-half percentage points from the previous year.
