The first stock trading session of 2016 will open on January 4 at 10 a.m., one hour later than the usual starting time.  
 
The Korea Exchange explained that the delayed opening will apply to all securities and derivatives markets.
 
The closing time on the first trading day, however, will remain the same as usual at 3 p.m.
 
The bourse operator said it decided to postpone the opening time in order to hold a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the creation of the local brokerage and derivatives markets, and to again celebrate the beginning of the New Year.
