A new report finds that exports of South Korean cosmetics and large automobiles to Canada have surged sharply since the South Korea-Canada free trade agreement (FTA) went into effect in January.
The report issued by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency on Wednesday looked into achievements reached in the past year from the trade deal.
According to the report, South Korea exported eleven-thousand-600 large passenger vehicles to Canada between January and October, up 93 percent from last year.
During the same period, South Korean cosmetics worth 20-point-two million dollars were exported to Canada. That’s up 48 percent from 2014.
The trade agency said South Korea’s overall exports to Canada slipped four-point-eight percent this year. It was quick to add, however, that South Korea enjoyed the effect of expanded trade when considering that Canada’s overall imports shrank more than nine percent and South Korea’s market share of imports in Canada grew.
