More Money Spent Importing Cars than Exports by Small Automakers

South Koreans spent more money importing cars in the first 11 months of this year than three minor South Korean automakers earned from exports.

According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) Monday, eight-point-74 billion dollars’ worth of vehicles were imported between January and November.

On the other hand, GM Korea, Renault Samsung and Ssangyong Motor exported a combined seven-point-six billion dollars’ worth of cars during the same period.

It is despite the fact that the three South Korean-based companies sold 310-thousand more vehicles than were imported during the period.

Compared to last year, foreign vehicle imports jumped by 21-point-nine percent, but exports by the three minor companies dropped by eight-point-two percent.
