The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies has selected what it says are the ten most significant technology news items of the year.
 
The federation said on Thursday that it picked six studies and four scientific technology-related news items based on deliberations by its committee and a vote by scientists and citizens.
 
The selected studies include “smart” artificial skin that can feel temperature and humidity, a new material which turns heat into electricity, flexible battery and reusable catalyst in proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells.
 
Other news included the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and the country’s export of “SMART” nuclear reactors or the System-integrated Modular Advanced reactor.
