Women from Two Koreas Hold Joint Cultural Event in N. Korea

Women’s groups from the two Koreas held a joint cultural event in the border city of Gaeseong on Wednesday.

Around 60 representatives from 35 South Korean groups, including the Korean Women’s Association United and Korea YWCA, met with their North Korean counterparts at the Kaesong Folk Hotel in the North Korean city.

The North Korean participants, numbering around 60 as well, were led by the Chosun Democratic Women’s Union.

During the event dubbed "inter-Korean women’s meeting for reconciliation, unity, peace and unification," participants held a musical performance and an exhibition displaying artwork from the two Koreas.

It is the first time women’s groups from the two Koreas have met since they held a forum on Japan’s wartime sex slavery in Shenyang, China in March of last year.
