The amount of credit card spending increased last month due to large retail sales events and increased overseas travels.
According to Credit Finance Research Institute on Tuesday, 54-point-one trillion won was approved by credit card companies in November, up nine-point-eight percent from the same month in 2014.
Credit cards were swiped one-billion-160-million times last month, up 14-point-two percent from a year earlier.
If corporate credit cards are excluded, spending on personal credit cards increased six-point-three percent.
The institute credited the increase to a rise in overseas travel on the back of recovering consumption sentiment and K-Sale Day events hosted by large-sized retail stores.
An increase in insurance premiums also contributed. The amount of credit card spending on insurance policies increased 14-point-two percent in November from a year earlier.
Spending at gas stations, however, plunged 13-point-nine percent from a year earlier due to low oil prices.
