Passage Resumes on Seohae Bridge Saturday, Traffic to Let Up

The Seohae Grand Bridge will reopen to traffic Saturday, allowing traffic time between the capital Seoul and Mokpo to take about four and a half hours this weekend, which is average.

The bridge was under construction to reconnect cables following a recent fire that caused severe congestion on the nearby Gyeongbu Expressway during the first and second weeks of December.

With the bridge reopening, the Korea Expressway Corporation forecasts traffic volume on all expressways in the country at around four-point-17 million cars on Saturday, down three-point-four percent from last weekend's four-point-three million.

Some 410-thousand vehicles are expected to leave the metropolitan area of Seoul on Saturday with a two-hour travel time expected to Daejeon and four hours 50 minutes to Busan.
