Gov't Seeks Over 3% Real Growth in 2016

Finance Minister Choi Kyung-hwan says that the government will do its best to achieve real GDP growth of more than three percent and nominal growth of about five percent next year.

The minister made the remarks on Wednesday during a joint briefing on the government’s economic policy for next year at the government complex in Seoul.

Choi said the government will shift its policy focus next year to the simultaneous management of real and nominal growth by managing growth and inflation at the optimum levels.

The finance minister said that the government will ensure that the recovery momentum is kept alive, vowing to shift policy management so the public can feel actual change.

The minister also repeated calls for the swift parliamentary passage of labor reform bills.
