N. Korea Blames S. Korea for Unsuccessful Inter-Korean Talks

North Korea is blaming South Korea for last week’s inter-Korean talks having failed to produce results.

Pyongyang's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea on Tuesday issued a spokesman's statement, saying Seoul missed an opportunity to improve cross-border ties.

The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the North said the latest inter-Korean talks were no better than not holding the meeting at all and that the prospects for inter-Korean ties are gloomier than before.

The North also raised issue with media reports, accusing the South Korean government of being behind conservative media claims that during the meeting the North focused on resuming tours to its Mount Geumgang resort.

Seoul dismissed the accusation. Unification Ministry spokesman Jeong Joon-hee said in a statement that the North was distorting the situation. He also urged Pyongyang to respond to Seoul's efforts to make actual progresses in resolving the issue of separated families.
