S. Korea-EU FTA to Take Full Effect Sunday

The South Korea-European Union (EU) free trade agreement (FTA) will come into full effect starting Sunday.

At the time of their negotiations in 2011, South Korea and the EU provisionally applied the trade deal following the signing of the accord.

From Saturday, a protocol on cultural cooperation and clauses related to criminal enforcement of intellectual property rights will take effect.

Key parts of the FTA, including tariff and nontariff measures, went immediately into effect but the effectuation of some clauses, including one on cultural cooperation, had been put off until all 28 members of the EU concluded ratification efforts.
