Bank of Korea Maintains Rate at 1.5%

The Bank of Korea has frozen its key interest rate for the sixth month in a row.

The central bank's monetary policy committee decided Thursday to maintain the benchmark rate at one-point-five percent.

The rate is at a record low after four reductions of a quarter of a percentage point each between August last year and June.

Analysts said the central bank is taking a wait-and-see approach amid speculation that the U.S. Federal Reserve may increase its interest rate this month and as domestic consumption is gradually recovering.
