Survey: 95% of Bond Experts Believe BOK Will Freeze Interest Rate

Most bond market experts believe that the Bank of Korea will freeze the nation’s key interest rate later this week.

A survey carried out for a week beginning November 25 by the Korea Financial Investment Association on some 100 people who work in the bond market found that more than 95 percent of respondents believe the central bank will keep the benchmark rate at one-and-a-half percent when it convenes its monthly monetary policy committee meeting on Thursday.

Experts forecast that the central bank will carefully watch developments after freezing the key interest rate as household debt is surging sharply and as the U.S. is likely to hike up its interest by year’s end.
