Koreas Agree on S. Korean Priests' Visit to N. Korea on Catholic Events

The two Koreas have agreed to cooperate on visits by South Korean priests to North Korea for major Catholic events.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea (CBCK), which recently sent a delegation of Catholic bishops to the North, said on Monday in a news conference that its delegation reached the agreement with the North Korean Catholic association during the trip.

The CBCK said that it will send a group of priests to hold services at Changchung Cathedral in Pyongyang, the sole Catholic church in North Korea, on major Catholic events, starting with Easter Mass in April next year.

Kim Hui-jung, the South Korean archbishop who led the delegation in the recent trip, relayed that the North Korean officials said that as long as there are no changes in inter-Korean relations at the government level, South Korean priests are welcome anytime.
