Institutional Investors' Overseas Securities Holdings Fall

Overseas holdings in stocks and bonds by institutional investors fell for the first time in more than two years in the third quarter.

The Bank of Korea said Friday that the value of foreign securities held by institutional investors was 114-point-93 billion dollars at the end of September, down about 600 million dollars from the end of June.

It is the first time in two years and three months that institutional investors' foreign securities holdings fell from the previous quarter since the second quarter of 2013.

During the third quarter, gains in investments held by insurance and securities companies narrowed and the value of stocks held by asset management firms fell due to weak stock markets in China and Hong Kong.
