A new report shows South Korea is the 27th most populated country in the world.
On Thursday, the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association issued the Korean edition of the United Nations Population Fund's State of the World Population 2015.
In the latest edition, the association said around 50-point-three million live in South Korea. North Korea placed 50th with a population around 25 million.
The association said combined, the two Korea's would have the 20th largest population on earth at around 75 million people.
China had the largest population with nearly one-point-37 billion people. India followed at one-point-31 billion, and the U.S. finished third with roughly 322 million.
The report said global average life expectancy is 69 years for men and 74 years for women. It said South Korean men live to 78 on average, ranking 18th in the world. It said women live to 85 on average, ranking fourth in the world.
The total fertility rate, or the average number of babies that a woman is expected to have during her lifetime, stood at two-and-a-half globally. Niger had the highest rate in the world with seven-point-six. South Korea’s fertility rate stood at one-point-three, or the lowest after Macao, Hong Kong and Singapore.
