Defectors' Satisfaction Drastically Falls After 10-years in South

A survey shows that North Korean escapees have become much less satisfied with their lives ten years after settling down in South Korea.

Korea Institute for National Unification researcher Park Ju-hwa released the result of his recent survey on 240 defectors from North Korea.

The life satisfaction of the newly naturalized citizens in South Korea stood at an average of two-point-99 points on a scale of one to four.

In the first three years, the satisfaction rate stood at three-point-06. The figure rose by point-zero-seven percentage points between the fourth and sixth years before it fell drastically to two-point-73 in the tenth year.

The researcher attributed the rising dissatisfaction in the later part of the first ten years in South Korea to disappointments in economic statuses.
