The National Assembly has passed a revised budget proposal for next year.
The budget, worth 386-point-four trillion won, is up two-point-nine percent from this year.
The revised budget is about 300 billion won lower than the initial plan proposed by the government. Rival parties made increases of three-point-eight trillion won and cut three-point-five trillion won.
By sector, the budget for general and local administration as well as defense was slashed. The parties raised the social welfare, transportation and logistics budget.
Rival parties also made a compromise regarding the conflict over how much the government should pay to provide free preschool education. The funds will be indirectly supported by an endowment of 300 billion won for school facility improvements.
The budget proposal passed the parliamentary plenary session early Thursday morning, past the legal deadline Wednesday.
