Korean Scientists Develop 360-Degree 3D Hologram

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute said Wednesday that it developed what it says is the world's first three-dimensional (3D) color hologram that captures images all around an object.

The institute said that existing hologram technologies enable users to view images from angles of within 20 degrees.

The institute plans to expand the current three-inch size of the new hologram and improve its image quality by 2021.

It also plans to develop and commercialize a technology that would enable the transmission and reception of hologram images through 5G networks.
