Trade Surplus Reaches New High as Economy Struggles

South Korean outbound shipments fell again in November following the worst exports in six years the previous month.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said South Korea exported 44-point-four billion U.S. dollars worth of products last month, down four-point-seven percent from November last year.

South Korea's exports decreased 15-point-eight percent in October, the largest drop in six years. Exports have fallen for 11 straight months.

The nation's imports dropped 17-point-six percent year-on-year to about 34 billion U.S. dollars in November.

The resulting export-import gap reached a new high at ten billion U.S. dollars in November, continuing the 46-month surplus streak.
