Consumer Prices Rise 1% YoY in November

South Korea's consumer prices increased one percent in November after remaining below that level for a year.

Statistics Korea said Tuesday that the consumer price index rose one percent in November year-on-year.

The inflation rate had remained in the zero percent range since December last year.

Service sector prices, including public utility fees, grew two-point-two percent in November from the same month last year, raising overall inflation by one-point-23 percentage points.

Last month's price index on daily necessities edged up a tenth of a percent while that of fresh produce gained three percent on-year.

The stats agency attributed the rise in inflation to a slower decrease in global oil prices and increases in domestic utility fees and "jeonse" rental deposit rates.
