Temperatures fell below South Korea Friday, marking the coldest day of the year. 

The mercury dropped to minus nine degrees Celsius in Daegwanryeong, Gangwon Province on Friday, while Seoul’s morning lows fell below five degrees Celsius. 

Friday’s daily highs are forecast to reach two degrees in Seoul, four degrees in Daejeong and six in Daeju.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said the cold snap will start to let up from Sunday.
