S. Korea, EEU Sign MOU to Increase Trade

Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Yoon Sang-jick held talks with the chief of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

The ministry said Yoon and his EEU counterpart, Andrei Slepnev, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Seoul on Friday. It calls for strengthening cooperation in trade and business investments.

The two sides also agreed to hold the first bilateral industrial cooperation committee meeting next year to discuss ways to increase bilateral trade and technology cooperation and identify joint projects.

Launched in January, the EEU is an economic union of states, comprised of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

Minister Yoon said EEU states have abundant resources and the industrial structures of South Korea and the EEU are mutually complementary.
