Senior Unification Ministry Official to Represent Seoul in Inter-Korean Talks

South Korea will send a senior Unification Ministry official as the chief delegate for inter-Korean working-level talks set for Thursday.

Ministry Spokesman Jeong Joon-hee said on Monday during a regular news briefing that the chief of the ministry's office for inter-Korean dialogue Kim Ki-woong will represent the South in the talks.

The spokesman said that when the South offered the talks in September, it had notified the North of its three-member delegation including the chief.

Meanwhile, the North sent a notice to the South on Friday suggesting the talks be held at the truce village of Panmunjeom. It added that its delegation will be led by Kim Song-hye, a senior official from the secretariat of the North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland.
