Samsung Electronics sold more smartphones than any other handset vendor in most emerging smartphone markets in the third quarter.
 
According to Strategy Analytics on Wednesday, Samsung ranked first in 14 of what the market information provider calls the "next 15" countries.
 
The countries include some Southeast Asian nations as well as Nigeria, Colombia and Australia where smartphone sales are surging.
 
Samsung topped the market in every nation among the 15 except for the Philippines.
 
In the third quarter, Samsung sold ten million smartphones in Indonesia, which has the largest smartphone market among the 15 nations.
