S. Korea, US to Hold Economic Council Meeting

South Korea and the United States will hold a high-level economic council meeting on Friday in Washington.

South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the two sides will discuss cooperation on diverse issues at the council meeting as agreed in the recent summit between the two nations.

Vice Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment Catherine Novelli will hold talks on bilateral cooperation on the so-called “new frontier” industries, including health, climate change, and development.

The two sides are also expected to discuss geopolitical issues in Asia and Pacific region.
