Heavy Smog in China to Reach Korean Peninsula Sunday

Traces of the smog and air pollution produced in China’s northeast regions will likely reach the Korean Peninsula on Sunday.

China’s weather agency said on Saturday that the smog will move south as strong northerly winds are expected to blow until Wednesday.

With the heavy smog continuing for eight straight days in China’s northeast areas, the air quality index of Beijing and Shenyang reached 280 and 204, respectively.

Based on China’s national standards, a reading above 200 is considered heavy pollution.
