Milk Consumption Diminishes 15% in 3 Years

The nation is seeing an excess supply of milk and diminished demand for dairy products, resulting in a surge in inventory.

Korea Dairy Committee says that the inventory of powdered milk in September was about 262 thousand tons, up 40 percent from the same period last year.

The stockpile of formula has remained above 200 thousand tons for nearly a year since November last year.

The average household has purchased less than five kilograms of milk on average a month, down 15 percent from three years ago.

Dairy producers are trying to promote consumption by releasing new products and supplying more goods to coffee and confectionery producers.
