A study shows that Samsung Electronics holds more patents for wearable device-related technologies than any other company in the world.

Samsung Electronics topped all other companies and institutions, holding more than 600 patents. Philips of the Netherlands came in second, and Matsushita Denki of Japan ranked third.

Samsung’s local rival, LG Electronics, was placed in fourth, while Japan’s Canon fifth.

By country, Japan accounted for 27-point-six percent of the patents, followed by the U.S., China and South Korea.
