KOSPI Drops Below 2,000 Threshold Tuesday

South Korean shares continued to head south on Tuesday, amid wavering investor sentiment over speculation that the U.S. Fed may raise its key interest rate in December.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) failed to defend the two-thousand-point threshold. The nation's main market index fell 29-point-11 points, or one-point-44 percent, to one-thousand-996-point-59.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ dropped 15-point-14 points, or two-point-25 percent, to 656-point-70.

On the Seoul foreign exchange market, the local currency appreciated zero-point-three won against the greenback, closing at one-thousand-156-point-nine won.
