Hyundai, Kia Become Largest Seller in German Imported Car Market

Hyundai Motor and its sister company Kia Motors have become the largest seller in the German imported car market.

An association of German automobile manufacturers said that Hyundai Motor sold over nine-thousand cars in Germany last month, a zero-point-four percent increase from the same month last year.

During the same period, Hyundai's affiliate Kia Motors saw sales grow four-point-two percent to more than five-thousand units.

They recorded combined sales of some 14-thousand cars, capturing the largest share among foreign carmakers in the German market.

German automaker Volkswagen suffered a sales loss even in its homeland in the wake of an emissions rigging scandal. Selling 61-thousand-500 cars in the home market last month, Volkswagen was the only German automaker to post a drop in sales.

The cheating on diesel emissions tests slashed Volkswagen’s sales in South Korea by more than 60 percent.
