Fewer South Korean companies went through mergers or splits so far this year, compared to the same period last year.
 
The Korea Exchange said Monday that 46 corporate mergers and splits were publicly announced from the beginning of this year to October 31, down 21 percent from 58 cases during the same period last year.
 
Thirty-six companies announced mergers this year, down five percent from 38 in 2014.
