Trade Minister Vows Deregulation for Foreign Investment

Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Yoon Sang-jick says he will hold close consultations with related ministries to ease regulations that prevent foreign investment.

Yoon made the remark Thursday at a meeting with representatives of major foreign companies, including Chairman James Kim of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea.

Yoon added that he will closely communicate with foreign firms in South Korea to create an active investment environment.

Attendees of the meeting also exchanged views on progress in implementing the South Korea-United States free trade agreement as well as pending issues such as Seoul's review of joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
