President Park Geun-hye and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang have agreed to strengthen strategic dialogue on North Korea's nuclear weapons program and issues on the Korean Peninsula.
The presidential office said that in the summit on Saturday in Seoul, Park and Li exchanged frank opinions on state affairs concerning the Korean Peninsula and unification of the two Koreas following a recent trip to Pyongyang by Liu Yunshan, the fifth highest official in China.
The two sides agreed to cooperate to ensure a bilateral free trade deal will take effect within this year and to speed up negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
South Korea and China also agreed to quickly launch a direct transaction market of their currencies in Shanghai.
In addition, the two sides agreed on inspection rules regarding South Korea’s export of rice and "samgyetang," a Korean ginseng chicken soup, to China.
