Inter-Korean Football Friendly Held in Pyongyang

A friendly football event between the labor unions of the two Koreas was held for the first time in eight years at the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang on Thursday.

North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Friday that two matches, both between a South team and a North team, were won by the North’s umbrella union group, General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea.

South Korea’s two umbrella labor bodies, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), fielded teams from the South.

The KCNA said the South Korean delegation led by the FKTU head Kim Dong-man and KCTU senior vice head Choi Jong-jin watched the matches in the stadium, alongside senior North Korean officials led by Kim Yong-dae, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) of the North.
