Samsung Electronics posted an operating profit of nearly seven-point-four trillion won in the third quarter.
The figure is about 82 percent higher compared with the same period last year, and up about seven-point-two percent from the previous quarter.
The electronics giant said sales amounted to 51-point-68 trillion won in the third quarter, up approximately six-point-five percent quarter-on-quarter and over eight-point-nine percent year-on-year.
For its semiconductor sector, operating profit increased by 260 billion won from the second quarter to an all-time high of three-point-66 trillion won.
However, the operating profit of its IT and mobile arm dropped 360 billion won to two-point-four trillion won, despite the release of its Galaxy S6 series.
Samsung attributed the decrease to a stagnant smartphone market, adding that the semiconductor arm benefited from increased sales of high value-added products.
