The president of the South Korean Red Cross says she had specific discussions with her North Korean counterpart about confirming the living statuses of separated family members, exchanging letters and holding video reunions.
In an interview with KBS on Tuesday, Kim Sung-joo, who headed the South Korean delegation at the recent inter-Korean reunions, said she had three official and two unofficial meetings with the North's Red Cross Chairman Ri Chung-bok.
Kim said it is considerably positive that the North engaged in dialogue about humanitarian projects with an open mind.
Noting that it was the first project to come to fruition following high-level talks between the South and North on August 25, Kim said the reunion event had ended well.
She added that she hopes the next phase of projects will also go well by cooperating with the government.
As a result, the two Koreas are expected to hold Red Cross talks to discuss contacts between separated families.
