The 20th inter-Korean reunions of war-separated families have come to a close as relatives from the two sides bid their farewell before parting.

Two-hundred-54 people who departed from North Korea's Mount Geumgang on Monday returned to the South at around 3:30 p.m.

Four participants, including 98-year-old Lee Seok-joo, were transferred in ambulances. Park Tae-wook, a 93-year-old man who fell and injured his head at Mount Geumgang, returned earlier than scheduled in an ambulance.

The last meeting of the second round of reunions took place at Kumgangsan Hotel for two hours from 9:30 a.m. on Monday.

Lee Seok-joo, the oldest participant from South Korea, gave his coat and scarf to his son. North Korean participant Bae Sang-man asked the North to allow him to exchange letters with his father from the South.

Following the meeting, the participants from the South got on the Sokcho-bound buses where families from the North, mouthing their good-byes, bid them farewell.

The latest reunion was the first in one year and eight months since last February. It reunited more than 180 families with six reunion meetings lasting for 12 hours in each round.
