Second Round of Family Reunions Ends

South Korean families who took part in the second round of three-day inter-Korean family reunions have left for home.

Two-hundred-54 family members and reporters who left North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort at 1:30 p.m. were set to arrive in Sokcho, Gangwon Province at 5:30 through a land route.

Before their departure, the families bid a tearful farewell to their relatives in the final two-hour session on Monday morning.

Ninety-eight-year-old Lee Seok-joo, the oldest participants from South Korea, gave his coat and scarf to his son. North Korean participant Bae Sang-man asked the North to allow him to exchange letters with his father from the South.

The families had six sessions of meeting for 12 hours during the three-day reunions.
