Finance Minister: 3.1% Growth Unlikely This Year

Finance Minister Choi Kyung-hwan says that South Korea is expected to have difficulties in achieving the growth target of three-point-one percent this year.

The minister made the remarks on Saturday during his visit to a Hyundai Heavy Industries’ farm in Ussuriysk, Russia’s Maritime Territory.

Choi said that despite the recovery in domestic demand, the country is facing difficulties with sluggish exports due to the global slowdown in trade.

He said that it is surprising that the Korean economy marked one-point-two percent growth in the third quarter, adding it is the result of the government’s stimulus measures such as the supplementary budget and active moves to boost consumption.
