S. Koreans to Gather for Family Reunions

Nearly 400 South Koreans will gather in Sokcho, Gangwon Province on Monday to travel across the border for inter-Korean family reunions.
 
Three-hundred-and-93 people from 96 families will converge at a resort to be briefed on the North as well as their itinerary.
 
South Korea's Red Cross President Kim Sung-joo will lead the first group of participants, who will be joined by government officials and support staff in Sokcho on Monday.
 
The total group, numbering some 500 people, will leave for North Korea’s Mount Geumgang resort by bus at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Participants will first meet with their northern relatives for around two hours beginning at 3 p.m.
 
Families from the two Koreas will meet six times for a total of 12 hours over two nights and three days.
 
Beginning Saturday, the second group of 90 families from the South will meet relatives from the North under a similar schedule.
