North Korea has vowed to take strong action against the United Nations’ move to bring North Korean officials to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for human rights violations.
The spokesman for the North’s Foreign Ministry told the North’s official Korean Central News Agency on Sunday that under the lead of the United States, the European Union and Japan are drafting a resolution calling for the North Korean human rights situation to be referred to the ICC.
The spokesman said that the move is a dirty plot by the United States and its followers to promote confrontation with the North at the United Nations, and added that they pledge to foil the hostile forces’ reckless madness with the toughest countermeasure.
Some media reported that the United States, South Korea, Japan and Britain recently began drafting a new resolution calling for the referral of the highest official responsible for the North’s dismal human rights conditions to the ICC.
