Volkswagen Korea to Recall Cars with Faulty Airbags

German carmaker Volkswagen is expected to recall 27-thousand vehicles sold in South Korea over defective airbags.

Volkswagen Korea is believed to have recently submitted a plan to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to recall seven of its models—Golf, Jetta, CC, Passat, Scirocco, Tiguan and Eos.

Subject to recall are 27-thousand of the seven cars sold between 2010 and 2014. A cord supplying power to the airbag is known to have been severed and now the airbag is at risk of not operating properly.

It has yet to be decided when the recall will be conducted. Volkswagen Korea will set up a detailed recall plan as soon as it is supplied with enhanced auto parts.

The German carmaker earlier decided to recall 420-thousand vehicles in the United States over the same defect.
