Unification Minister Hong Yong-pyo has called for an effective system in order to create what he called "healthy peace."

Hong made the congratulatory remarks at an academic conference held at Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul, Thursday.

The minister said that true peace cannot be realized if solely based on imposing force on the other party's goodwill.

He said "healthy peace" can only be achieved when it is based on power and trust working hand in hand.

The minister said the landmark inter-Korean agreement on August 25 demonstrated that achieving healthy peace is possible. He promised efforts to consistently carry out the trust building process on the Korean Peninsula and implement the August 25 agreement.
