'Hacking by Anonymous Unidentifiable Unless Damages Occur'

South Korea says that it is uncertain whether the international hacking group Anonymous launched an attack on the government Web sites because no damages occurred.

The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that even if Anonymous was responsible, it could not be confirmed unless the attack caused damage.

The ministry said that the government Web sites functioned normally on Monday with no sites crashing by sudden flood of traffic.

In response to Anonymous claiming it would continue the attack until Wednesday, the ministry said it will remain alert around the clock and swiftly respond to any attack.

Anonymous announced last Tuesday that it would launch a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the Web sites of the South Korean government and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
