Samsung Tops Record 45% in DRAM Market Share

Samsung Electronics' market share in the global dynamic random-access memory, or DRAM, market has topped a record 45 percent.

According to industry tracker IHS Incorporated on Tuesday, the tech giant maintained its steadfast market lead with a 45-point-two percent share in the DRAM market in the second quarter.

The figure is one-point-one percentage points up from its first quarter share of 44-point-one percent, and is the highest quarterly record.

Commanding the second largest share in the global DRAM market was Samsung's smaller domestic rival SK Hynix whose share edged down zero-point-three percentage points to 27-point-three percent in the April to June period.

Taking third place was U.S.-based Micron Technology with a 20-point-four percent share.

With Samsung and SK Hynix combined, South Korea's share of global DRAM exceeds well over 70 percent.
