Inter-Korean Labor Organizations Agree to Hold Workers' Football Competition in N. Korea

Labor organizations of South and North Korea have agreed to hold an inter-Korean workers' football competition in Pyongyang in the North from October 28 to 31.

The agreement was reached on Monday in working-level talks in Gaeseong between South Korea’s two umbrella unions The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) and the North’s General Federation of Trade Unions.

The three organizations said they agreed to hold the football competition for reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification in order to implement the joint statement adopted in the high-level talks in August.

The KCTU and FKTU plan to travel to the North by chartered plane for the event. The two sides meanwhile agreed to continue discussions on details of the competition.
