First Snowfall on Mt. Seorak, 6 Days Earlier than Last Year

The first snowfall this season was observed at Seorak Mountain in Gangwon Province on Saturday morning.

The Gangwon Regional Meteorological Administration and the Korea National Park Service said Saturday that temperatures dropped to minus zero-point-three degrees Celsius near the mountain's Jungcheong Peak earlier in the day and mixed rain and snow began to fall from 7 a.m., continuing for about an hour.

The first snow this fall came six days earlier than last year.

However, as strong winds carried the snowflakes away, no accumulation was recorded.
