N. Korea Denounces Park's Speech at UN General Assembly

North Korea has denounced President Park Geun-hye's keynote speech at the UN General Assembly.

The North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said Tuesday that Park not only disgraced the dignity and system of the North, but revealed an outright ambition to absorb the North under the guise of peaceful reunification.

The committee spokesperson added that Park's words were unacceptable provocations and thoughtless remarks that ruin recent improvements in South-North relations, adding that next month's family reunions are now in a precarious state.

The spokesperson said that in order to create a nuclear-free world, the United States, which has the largest number of nuclear weapons, should begin eliminating them first.

In a keynote speech at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly earlier Tuesday, Park criticized movements by the North to engage in additional provocations and urged Pyongyang to discard its obsession with nuclear weapons and to seek economic development through reform and opening up.
